Question: I enjoy your web site and see that you have info on games, TV shows, books, etc. Tonight my family attended a theater show "Children of Eden". I was so disgusted I wanted to leave after the opening song, and it just got worse. We did leave as soon as intermission started. The entire Gospel message was 'erased' from the story of the fall of man. God is made out to be an ogre that manipulates and denies knowledge to us. The icing on this cake was at the end of the first act when Cain kills Abel and it has nothing to do with an acceptable sacrifice, there are other people outside of God's creation of mankind, and Eve sings about how God never answers prayer. What a wonderful opportunity thrown away. The audience was rapt throughout the show while we were there.
Anyway, have you ever seen this musical production and if so, do you have any comments on it?
Is my family 'nuts'? Even my 11 year old wanted out of there as fast as possible. The disturbing thing is that Christians think this is a Christian show. They don't even know this Bible story well enough to discern the error. This is not a Christian show, but a fiction based on God's Word.
Answer: No, Von, your family isn’t “nuts”. You are discerning and faithful to our Lord. I hadn’t heard of this musical, but I checked one site: http://www.lilyrose.org/songs.html. Just reading the synopsis, I can see the distortion of the Biblical message. And your observations tell me that this show -- like many others -- “re-imagines God” and mocks His truth.

Question: I am a pastor's wife…. Need some advice... A number of the mature young people at our church (who I normally believe to be fairly spiritually mature) have seen Bruce Willis' new movie, the "Sixth Sense" and say that they really thought it was good. I have found the commercials to be very disturbing - the story has something to do with a child who has the ability to see dead people. Are you familiar with this movie? If so, what's your opinion of it?
Answer: Thank you for prompting us to write a warning about this psychological thriller. It lifts spiritism and necromancy (talking with the dead and sharing their messages with others) out of the Biblical context where it’s listed among forbidden occult practices (Deuteronomy 18:10-11), and puts it into a story context which makes occultism seems both good and helpful. With a compassionate psychologist, a sweet but terrified young boy, and superb acting, this occult tale manipulates viewers into accepting a feel-good resolution that turns God's Word and warnings upside-down. Seeing necromancy and other psychic powers as good spiritual gifts fits right into the new global and multicultural paradigm which accepts all kinds of occult practices, but rejects Biblical truth. Listen to the twisted message of the demonic spirit called "God" which channeled his occult "wisdom" to Neale Donald Walsch, author of the top-selling books, Conversations with God: "Using psychic ability is nothing more than using your sixth sense. Question from Wes Injerd Dazaifu, Japan: Thanks for the good look into this phenomenon. I live in Japan, home of so many soft-occult, soft-porn animations and characters. It's interesting that in this amoral, atheistic country there are so many replacements for God and morals. Do you have anything on the many Disney soft-occult films? These surely served as primers to what was later to come.

To others she becomes a typical illustration of both feminist and New Age spirituality. Notice the emphasis on various forms of magic:
