CNN reports on the son of Jim and Tammy Bakker who is part of an emerging church in New York City. Here is what he says about sin:
"God isn't counting our sins against us. Yeah, we'll have to pay the consequences; life has consequences. But God isn't keeping a record. 'You better watch out, you better not cry' -- that's not God. That's Santa Claus!"
Sorry, Jay. For those who are not washed in the blood of the Lamb, the Word of God says otherwise:
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
--Matthew 12:36
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
--Romans 2:3
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
--Romans 2:5
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
--Luke 12:2The Bible also states that there is a book of Remembrance for believers. One of the most beautiful passages in all the Bible is this:
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
--Malachi 3:16-17For those who are forgiven, our sins are blotted out and the Lord will not remember them. But for those who are unconverted, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed on that Last Day.
Priase God that on that last day, the Judge will declare us righteous if our faith and trust is in Him!
